Key Features to setting up a profile in AutoMindr

VIN: Having the users VIN number will allow for information about the car to automatically known. For example, the user will not need to know the type of tires to purchase because that information will be stored in the VIN. If the user does not know their VIN at that moment, it can be left blank and they will be prompted for it at a later date.
Class (pre-set to novice): All users can set their own class, it will although be preset to novice at initial setup because our target audience will be in the novice class.
Car's home (address, give opportunity to push location via phone later): If users decide they want their notifications to be sent when they are at home, this will become a very important feature. AutoMindr will need an address to know when the car is at home. When setting up, the user will have the option to leave it blank and set the home location by push notification when they get there.
Phone (optional)- an option for AutoMindr to send you SMS notifications instead of, or in addition to push notifications.
Schedule: This will allow users to decide when they would like to be contacted and when they do not. It can be time and/or location specific. Also, because people schedules change, this option will be easily editable if the users schedule does change, or if they do not like when/ where they are being notified.
Privacy settings: This will allow users to see, what other people (buddy, mentor, mechanic) can see in their profile. This is also the feature that allows the maintenance provider the option update the maintenance log. The data will be specific and allow for the user to come back and make changes if they would like.
Preferred service centers (with option to push). These locations will be important when notifying the user when their car needs service.

If a user indicates a service center as a preferred center for a specific service, but the center offers other services, AutoMindr will ask the user if they want to use that center as the preferred center for those as well.
Research and Results
This will be one of the users first interactions with AutoMindr, AutoMindr wants this to be as enjoyable and as easy as possible for the user to return. If the user can do the above steps to register for AutoMindr, there is no doubt that the user will continue and use more of the features available in AutoMindr. That of which we are striving for. Knowing if these task are easily doable will be found by focus groups telling the users to perform the above task.
Metrics for success
Th initial step is having the user find out about AutoMindr and want to use it. Once users are aware of the application, the success, will depend on the user actually doing what AutoMindr is asking of them. After this step it is expected that the user will become more engaged in AutoMindr, continue use and as a result become a more advanced user.
Future Steps
There will be different set-up views for different invitations. If you signed up yourself, you will have more flexibility in what you can edit at the set-up. If you were invited by a mentor, you will be more restricted, because AutoMindr will assume that you know less about cars and in more need of the system. Because deciding when and where you want to be contacted is such an important feature in the system, it will continue to be updated as other options arise.
